Namibian entrepreneur puts customers and value first
Liina YaKasita-Hamunyela is a Windhoek-based entrepreneur with a passion for business and property. A mother of three, she credits family life with shaping the resilience, discipline and determination that have defined her career.
She is the founder of Unicorn Properties and managing director of Unicorn Supplies – both built from the ground up – where she leads strategy, manages client relationships and oversees service delivery.
YaKasita-Hamunyela built her career by spotting opportunities and creating businesses that deliver practical value. Experience across real estate and supply and distribution led her to establish two companies in distinct sectors.
She is driven by solutions that simplify everyday processes.
Reliable and efficient
In real estate, she identified demand from individuals and families seeking homes and sound property investment advice. In the supply sector, she recognised a consistent need for essential operational products, prompting her to build a business centred on reliability and efficiency.
Unicorn Properties specialises in the sale of residential and investment properties across Windhoek and beyond, connecting buyers and sellers and providing professional guidance.
Unicorn Supplies provides thermal till rolls essential for daily business operations, with a focus on reliable supply and efficient delivery.
Both businesses were founded on a vision of reliability and professionalism.
Over time, strong client relationships and expanding networks have helped cement YaKasita-Hamunyela’s businesses’ solid reputation. As demand grows, the focus remains on improving operations and exploring opportunities for expansion.
YaKasita-Hamunyela’s long-term vision for Unicorn Properties includes expanding into property development and contributing to housing and investment growth in Namibia. For Unicorn Supplies, the goal is to broaden the product range and strengthen distribution nationwide.
Like many entrepreneurs, she has faced challenges such as “competition, brand recognition, and economic fluctuations", YaKasita-Hamunyela said.
However, consistency, resilience and strong client relationships have helped overcome these obstacles.
Her advice to young entrepreneurs is simple: "Start with a clear vision, remain consistent, keep learning and believe in your ideas while working hard to turn them into reality."
