Helen Feldmann puts people at the heart of performance
Over more than two decades in Namibia’s corporate landscape, Helen Feldmann has built a career at the intersection of commercial strategy and human development.
As chief executive of HFL Coaching and Consulting, she is driving a shift in how organisations understand leadership, placing people, not processes, at the centre of performance.
“My journey is anchored in over 20 years of navigating the diverse and often complex Namibian corporate landscape," Feldmann explained.
“While financial performance is critical, I have learned that business outcomes are ultimately a reflection of human behaviour.”
Before establishing HFL, Feldmann held senior executive roles in logistics and retail, where she oversaw nationwide operations and drove revenue growth in highly competitive environments. It was during this period that she identified a recurring challenge: highly technically skilled professionals being promoted into leadership roles without the tools to succeed.
“Technical excellence gets people promoted," she noted, ”but leadership maturity is what determines whether they succeed or struggle".
Science-based approach
This insight led to the creation of HFL Coaching and Consulting, a firm designed to bridge the gap between business performance and behavioural insight. At its core is a “dual lens” approach, combining predictive behavioural analytics, including emotional intelligence, and executive coaching.
“We do not rely on guesswork,” Feldmann said.
"We translate behavioural science into practical leadership strategies that strengthen both individuals and organisations. By implementing these, we ensure that all parties accept their individual accountabilities and live up to their respective personal brands."
HFL’s work spans executive coaching, organisational development and its flagship boardroom readiness programmes, which prepare emerging leaders for the realities of executive environments.
“Walking into a boardroom requires more than expertise," Feldmann explained.
"It requires presence, clarity and the ability to influence with confidence and integrity."
Global standards
A key milestone for the organisation is its partnership with Harrison Assessments, which has allowed the company to introduce internationally recognised behavioural analytics to the Namibian market.
This reinforces HFL’s commitment to data-driven talent optimisation and ethical leadership development.
Looking ahead, Feldmann’s vision is clear: to position HFL as Namibia’s leading partner in developing self-aware, strategically aligned leaders able to navigate local and global business markets.
“Our mission is simple but powerful," she concluded.
"To unlock human potential by aligning the right people with the right roles at the right time.”
