Feni Namhindo embraces new role at ESP
Armed with a bachelor of laws (LLB), Emeraldsand Platforms (ESP) executive assistant Feni Namhindo (22) has stepped beyond the legal profession she trained for and into the dynamic world of media and publishing, a move she describes as both a personal and professional challenge.
"I wanted to challenge myself by exploring an industry outside law," she says. "The opportunity to work in media and publishing allows me to grow professionally while developing new skills."
Since joining ESP on 1 April, Namhindo has become the organisational backbone of the executive director's office.
"As executive assistant at ESP, I ensure the executive director's office runs efficiently by coordinating schedules, preparing documents, gathering information, and working with clients and stakeholders," she explains.
Staying curious
Her ability to manage demanding responsibilities is rooted in the lessons she learned during her internship at Isaacks and Associates.
"My internship provided a strong legal foundation and taught me professionalism, attention to detail and client service," Namhindo says. "It gave me skills that continue to shape the way I approach my work every day."
Rather than viewing her legal qualification as a career she has left behind, Namhindo sees it as an advantage in her current position.
"It represents growth, adaptability and the chance to prove that my legal training can add value beyond the legal profession," she says.
While transitioning into a new industry has required adjustment, she has embraced the learning process with confidence.
"As I am new to the industry, I expect a learning curve, which I plan to overcome by staying curious, asking questions and embracing continuous learning."
Looking ahead, Namhindo believes there is significant room to strengthen executive support through innovation.
"I see opportunities to improve administrative efficiency through better systems, communication and technology," she says. "I'm excited to contribute to efficient executive operations and strengthen relationships with stakeholders while learning more about the media industry."
Although she is focused on making an impact at ESP, her long-term ambitions remain firmly rooted in the legal profession.
"I aspire to become an admitted legal practitioner dedicated to ensuring justice is accessible to everyone, especially people in communities where privileges are fewer," Namhindo says.
Away from the office, Namhindo enjoys reading, quiet restaurant catch-ups with friends and a cup of black coffee. She describes herself as naturally introverted but believes personal growth comes from embracing unfamiliar spaces.
"I'm naturally an introvert, but I enjoy building meaningful relationships and stepping outside my comfort zone to grow personally and professionally."
It is a mindset that continues to define both the young professional she is today and the career she is steadily building.
