Raundjua Hengari appointed CRAN board vice-chair

The Communications Regulatory Authority of Namibia (CRAN) has welcomed Raundjua Hengari as the new vice-chairperson of the board of directors.

Hengari grew up in the Omaheke region, spending part of her childhood in Otjombinde Constituency before moving to Grootfontein. This mix of rural and town life gave her a strong sense of community.

She describes herself as someone who loves both intense work like legislative drafting and creative hobbies such as interior design and gardening. 

Hengari studied law at the University of Namibia (Unam), earning both her B.Juris and LLB degrees. Later, she became a legal practitioner of the High Court of Namibia and added a postgraduate certificate in legislative drafting.

Hengari explained that her focus is on supporting Namibia’s ICT growth through national planning. “My primary objective is to spearhead the realisation of the Sixth National Development Plan (NDP6) goals specifically targeted at the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector,” she said. 

Over more than a decade, she has worked in the ministry of justice, rising from legal officer to chief legal officer. She has negotiated international treaties, drafted laws, and supervised junior drafters. Her leadership also extended to chairing the appeals committee of the ministry of urban and rural development. 

Hengari said that teamwork and clarity are important qualities in leaders. “I practise a collaborative and detail-oriented leadership style. I believe in empowering my team through clear strategic direction, mentorship, and ethical accountability,” she said. 

Like many professionals, she has faced challenges. “I have overcome them by remaining grounded, taking absolute accountability for outcomes, and decoupling emotion from problem-solving,” she said. 

Hengari’s message to young people is that they should stay focused and maintain strong values. “Define your goals early, remain relentlessly focused, and match your determination with hard work," she advised.

"The corporate and legal worlds will test you, but you must never give up. Finally, anchor your ambition with strong values and prayer, faith and discipline are the ultimate foundations for lasting success."
