Fostering: Where hope lives and children thrive
In 2007, a simple yet powerful prophetic word changed the direction of our lives: “Many broken children will come to your home.” What were once just words gradually became a living reality.
My name is Jenette Theron. I live in Tsumeb and I am a single parent and foster mother to eight children.
Our children’s father went to his eternal home in 2021. Since then, we have continued this journey with faith and perseverance.
In 2010, we welcomed our first foster child in Swakopmund. It marked the beginning of a path of obedience and trust in God. From 2012 onward, our home became a permanent place of safety for eight foster children – each carrying their own stories of loss, trauma and deep brokenness. Over the years, approximately 20 more children also passed through our home on a short-term basis, each one leaving a lasting imprint on our hearts.
Our house has become more than just walls and a roof. It is a safe haven where love, structure, healing and hope are lived out daily.
Daily courage
However, with this calling comes great responsibility. The needs are constant – rent, water and electricity, groceries, clothing, school fees and medical expenses must all be covered to provide stability and security for the children.
One of our sons has been diagnosed with sickle cell disease, a serious blood disorder that causes severe pain episodes. He requires regular blood transfusions and daily medication, which results in additional medical costs. Despite his condition, he remains incredibly brave and resilient. His courage is a daily reminder of why this calling matters so deeply.
You can make a difference
Most of these children have no family members who support them or even come to visit. They long not only for financial assistance but also for people who genuinely care – people who are willing to get involved, to mentor, to encourage and to make a meaningful difference in their lives.
My heart’s desire is to encourage the people of Namibia to open their hearts to orphaned and vulnerable children – to become the hands and feet of Jesus and to walk alongside a child in need. I firmly believe that when one child’s life is changed, an entire generation can be changed.

Let 2026 be the year of Compassion.
