Ettiene Steenkamp takes on SanlamAllianz manager role
A financial services professional with more than 22 years of experience, Ettiene Steenkamp has been appointed manager of the agency division, ELM, at SanlamAllianz Namibia.
In this role, Steenkamp will oversee the agency distribution channel, focusing on strategic growth, operational efficiency and strong performance across teams. He will also coordinate cross-functional initiatives and ensure that key strategic and operational plans are carried out effectively.
Speaking about his appointment, Steenkamp said the opportunity represents a meaningful milestone in his career.
“I felt an overwhelming sense of gratitude and accomplishment when I received the call,” he said. “It was a moment that validated the hard work, commitment and resilience I have invested over the years.”
Steenkamp’s career spans both banking and insurance. He spent nine years at FNB Namibia, where he developed strong foundations in client service, operational discipline and business development.
“My time at FNB helped shape my understanding of the financial services environment and taught me the importance of strong client relationships and service excellence,” he explained.
He later moved into the insurance industry, working at Old Mutual Namibia, Liberty Life Namibia and Momentum Namibia in several leadership and client-facing roles. These positions gave him experience in corporate consulting, sales leadership and distribution management.
Future-ready growth
Steenkamp said the financial services sector has changed significantly in recent years. Digital transformation and data-driven decision-making are reshaping how companies operate and how clients interact with financial institutions.
“Customers expect faster, simpler and more personalised services today, both digitally and face to face,” he said.
Looking ahead, Steenkamp hopes to strengthen growth in the agency channel while also improving efficiency and collaboration between business units.
“I am excited to help build a stronger and more future-ready agency distribution channel,” he said. “That includes empowering advisers, strengthening leadership and ensuring we deliver meaningful value to clients.”
