CRAN reappoints Nghikembua as CEO for five-year term

In a statement, CRAN said the board of directors' decision to retain Nghikembua follows her "exemplary leadership and outstanding performance during her initial term, which ran from 2020 through 2025".

"This reappointment signals the board’s total confidence in her strategic vision and her steadfast dedication to advancing Namibia’s communications sector," the statement read.

Nghikembua is a distinguished legal practitioner possessing advanced qualifications in ICT policy, law and business leadership. Her academic background includes a baccalaureus juris, a bachelor of law and a master of law (cum laude) degree from the University of Namibia.

Additionally, she holds a master of arts in ICT policy and regulation from the University of the Witwatersrand and an Executive MBA specialising in technology and business.

"As an admitted legal practitioner of the High Court of Namibia with deep telecommunications experience, she is uniquely equipped to guide CRAN through an evolving digital landscape," the company stated.

During the announcement, CRAN board chairperson Dr Tulimevava Mufeti said, "Nghikembua has spearheaded transformative reforms that propelled our broadcasting and telecommunications sectors forward.”

Mufeti added: “Her innovative approach has successfully fostered sustainable growth and improved consumer services nationwide.”

Beyond Namibia, Nghikembua is recognised as a continental leader.

She was ranked among the Top 100 African Economic Leaders by the Institut Choiseul from 2022 to 2024 and was named the 2024 Young African Leader of the Year by African Leadership Magazine. In 2023, the Windhoek Observer also honoured her as one of Namibia’s 50 Meritorious Individuals in corporate leadership.

“The board remains committed to working with Nghikembua to realise the nation’s digital ambitions and position Namibia as a premier African digital hub,” the statement concluded.
