Nghikembua named vice-chair of CEO Forum

Communications Regulatory Authority of Namibia (CRAN) CEO Emilia Nghikembua has been appointed vice-chairperson of the Public Enterprises CEOs Forum.

Nghikembua was appointed CRAN CEO in January 2021.

Her appointment at the Public Enterprises CEOs Forum has been described as a vote of confidence in her ability to strengthen governance and drive progress within Namibia’s public enterprises.

Nghikembua told Careers the new role gives her the chance to promote collaboration and ensure that public enterprises deliver greater value to the country.

“I am honoured by the trust placed in me. The role presents an opportunity to champion collaboration and good governance, ensuring public enterprises collectively deliver greater value for Namibia,” she said.

Nghikembua explained that her priorities will centre on building partnerships, promoting integrity and ensuring that public enterprises contribute to Namibia’s economic growth.

“My priorities are to strengthen collaboration, champion ethical leadership, highlight the impact of public enterprises on economic development, and foster stronger partnerships between government and public enterprises to enhance shareholder value and national development,” she said.

Reflecting on her career, she said one of her greatest challenges was overcoming stereotypes about youth and women in leadership.

Nghikembua chose to respond to these perceptions through preparation, learning, and staying true to her values.

“One of the biggest challenges I have faced in my career has been overcoming the perception that young people, and particularly women, cannot lead. Rather than allowing those perceptions to define me, I focused on continuous learning, meticulous preparation and remaining grounded in my values,” she said.

She urged young Namibians to measure success not by positions but by the impact they leave behind.

“My advice to young Namibians is simple: build character, master your craft and develop an impeccable work ethic. Be a faithful steward of every opportunity and pursue excellence relentlessly," she said.

"Positions come and go, but the value you create, the lives you touch, and the impact you leave behind are what truly define success,” Nghikembua added.
