Marusca Goliath on shaping people, culture and growth

Working within organisational development at Nampower, Marusca Goliath's role centres on "people, culture, and organisational growth", with a clear focus on creating environments where employees feel empowered, supported, and aligned to the organisation's vision.

Her work spans performance management, organisational design, job profile analysis, psychometrics, talent management, employee engagement and succession planning, all aimed at ensuring that career pathways remain effective and meaningful.

At its core, Goliath explains that organisational development is “helping people and organisations grow together" and creating workplaces where individuals can thrive and contribute positively.

She emphasises the importance of culture, noting that culture is the heart of any organisation; it shapes how people feel when they come to work every day.

Her day-to-day responsibilities reflect this, from engaging with employees and leaders to facilitating team development sessions and supporting organisational initiatives that strengthen both structure and culture.

Goliath’s career path has been shaped by a deep passion for people and an interest in human behaviour.

"I realised early on that workplaces have the power to either build people or break them down," she says.

This realisation inspired her to pursue a role focused on creating healthier and more empowering work environments.

Goliath’s academic background in industrial psychology and sociology, together with a Master of Philosophy in people management, provided a strong foundation in understanding both individual and organisational dynamics.

This perspective continues to guide her work.

She highlights that behind every employee is a person with dreams, challenges, emotions, and potential.


Personal growth

While the role is fulfilling, it also comes with challenges, including navigating pressure, change, and self-doubt.  

Goliath overcame these by investing in her personal growth, remaining grounded in her values, and embracing resilience and faith.

For young people, her advice is both reassuring and practical. “Do not put too much pressure on yourself to have everything figured out immediately,” she says, encouraging openness to learning and trust in the process.

Goliath highlights the importance of communication, emotional intelligence, and adaptability, noting that “the future workplace is looking for people with character, emotional intelligence, resilience, and the ability to lead with authenticity".

As workplaces evolve, she observes that while technology continues to advance, there is an increasing focus on human-centred environments, wellbeing, and meaningful work. Her final message is clear and powerful.

“Do not underestimate your journey… keep showing up, keep learning, and keep believing in the vision God placed inside of you.”
