David Mbeha: Pioneering Namibia’s creative future

David Mbeha is reshaping how Namibia is seen on the global stage, using creativity and digital innovation to open doors for his country. From his early success as the first African winner of TLC Next Great Presenter to his current ventures in China, Mbeha has consistently focused on amplifying Namibian stories and talent.

In Beijing, Mbeha is connecting Namibia to some of the world’s largest digital audiences. “My hope here in China is to shine the spotlight on creatives like myself, including filmmakers, photographers, fashion designers, digital storytellers and cultural entrepreneurs who have strong narratives but limited access to global distribution,” he says.

Through his podcast, Uninterrupted with David Mbeha, he celebrates Namibian creativity while exposing it to international platforms.

Mbeha also brings digital expertise back home. “Through the various workshops I have attended, the biggest lesson is that technology is the future and we must embrace the digital economy,” he explains. By ensuring his podcast is globally accessible on platforms such as Apple Podcasts, he demonstrates how Namibia can leverage digital tools to reach global audiences.

Highlighting Namibian human stories remains central to his mission. “The Namibian stories that I continue to share here in China are captured through my podcast, featuring musicians, athletes, models and content creators. It is a celebration of Namibian stories and talent,” Mbeha notes. His platform shines a light on resilience, creativity and ambition, while fostering a new narrative about Namibia abroad.

Mbeha sees creativity as a driver of both economic and cultural growth. “By positioning Namibia as a source of stories, culture and digital content, we attract tourism, investment and partnerships,” he says. Beyond this, he mentors young Namibians, encouraging them to adopt advanced production technologies and embrace podcasting and digital media.

As Mbeha continues to build his brand in Beijing, he emphasises its wider impact: “My hope is to pave the way for Namibia to be seen as an emerging hub for creativity and innovation, leading to new opportunities for creators, digital entrepreneurs and industries back home.”
